A shipping container ablution block (also called a portable toilet block, amenities block or site ablution unit) is a steel shipping container converted into toilets, showers, change rooms and related wet areas. The structure is the container shell; the fit-out is lined, insulated, plumbed and finished in the factory so the module ships as a working facility rather than a kit of parts.

Fully fitted units from the ablution blocks page — male/female and other layouts are scoped to your brief when you enquire. You get fully fitted modules ready for your requirements, straightforward setup, and Australia-wide delivery.
Multi-use amenities block (4 × 40ft)
Built for councils and sporting clubs. Fit-out: two change rooms, disability bathroom, toilets, showers, canteen storerooms and an outdoor area. Complete setup stated as nine days. Lined and insulated for heat and cold; described as strong and water-resistant inside and out, with vandal resistance in mind for public sites. Full-service design and engineering details, with a turnkey installation path. Local trades (plumbing, concreting, painting, electrical) are often involved so the install matches each site. We state collaboration with 16 different councils on design-and-construct work; official council referrals are available on request.
20ft disability, ambulant and store room container
A custom ablution block with full disabled access, baby change table, separate ambulant toilet, dedicated cleaners’ storage and a hot water system. Architecturally finished with external cladding; interior fitted with quality plumbing fixtures. See the product page.
Coin-operated five shower block – 20ft
Aimed at caravan parks and councils. Fully plumbed with dual hot water systems, inverter for 12V or 240V, and a 15 amp external socket for simpler install. Positioned to help manage water use and keep cubicles turning over. See the five shower block.

What’s included in a typical factory build
Across the range, you should expect:
- Steel container structure, factory conversion and interior lining
- Insulation suitable for Australian climates (our FAQ notes we can specify insulation and energy rating to climate)
- Plumbing fixtures and wet-area fit-out to the agreed layout
- Hot water where the product page states it (disability unit; dual systems on the five-shower block)
- Delivery as a finished module rather than a flat-pack assembly job
Site works still matter: foundations or footings, service connections (water, sewer/waste, power), and local trade finish. On amenities jobs we often coordinate local plumbing, concreting, painting and electrical so the handover is complete.

Every unit in this guide is built in our Australian workshop at 39 Habib Drive, South Lismore, NSW 2480. We are Australian owned and operated; components are supplied by Australian companies and manufacturers.
On mining and government work we put it plainly: portable buildings — including ablution blocks — are custom-built in South Lismore, Australian-made and Australian-compliant, with a complete service from design through to installation. That same factory discipline is what councils, clubs and site managers get on amenities and toilet blocks.
Delivery is Australia-wide. Our ablution and amenities product pages speak to capital-city and regional delivery. Delivery is always extra and quoted to your site, because distance, routes and access all change the cost. We also hold a rail licence for long-distance jobs.
Council, compliance and approvals — factual only
Each council has its own local requirements. That is straight from our FAQ. We offer the full service of plans, certificates and council DA applications where that pathway applies. Your certifier confirms the standards that apply to your site, and we build to the approved drawings.
For public amenities and accessible toilets, expect your certifier and council to look at access, plumbing, waste and site classification. Bring those requirements to the first conversation so the factory layout matches what your approval pathway needs.

FAQ
What is the difference between an ablution block and an amenities block?
On our site, “ablution” usually means toilets/showers (including accessible and multi-shower layouts). “Multi-use amenities” is the larger package — change rooms, disability bathroom, toilets, showers, canteen storerooms and outdoor area in a 4 × 40ft build.
Do you build male, female and accessible layouts?
Yes — layouts are custom to the brief. The disability/ambulant 20ft unit is built for full disabled access plus ambulant toilet and cleaners’ storage. Gender split and cubicle counts for other ablution units are confirmed at quote stage.
How long does an ablution block take?
Our ablution blocks are ready 30 working days from order. The multi-use amenities page states a complete setup of 9 days once you are in that installation window. Transport time then depends on your site.
Can you deliver outside NSW?
Yes. Product pages describe nationwide delivery. We factory-build in South Lismore and ship to site Australia-wide. Transport is quoted per job.
Do I need council approval?
Each council has its own requirements. We can provide plans, certificates and DA application support. Treat this as process support, not a guarantee of approval.
