A container home is a big decision, and it’s hard to make from photos alone. The best way to get a feel for how we build is to come and see it for yourself. Our showroom and factory are at 39 Habib Drive, South Lismore, and you’re welcome to visit by appointment.

When you book, let us know which models or projects you’re interested in and roughly where you’re planning to build. That way we can have the right plans ready and tell you what’s on the factory floor that week.
What you’ll see
What’s in the factory changes from week to week, so every visit’s a bit different. Depending on what’s in production, you might see:
- Containers at different stages. Window and door cut-outs, steel reinforcing, container joins, framing, insulation, lining and fit-out.
- How a module comes together. You’ll see how the kitchen, bathroom and services go in before the building leaves the factory.
- The people doing the work. Ask the team questions directly about steel, insulation, finishes and what suits your climate.
- The showroom office. Sit down with us to go through floor plans, talk about your block and budget, and work out which model is the closest fit.
What to bring: your site address, a few photos of the block, any sketches or plans you’ve got, and a rough budget. If you’ve already spoken to council, bring that too.
On arrival: please report to the office first. The factory is a working site, so wear closed-in shoes and stick with your guide on the floor.
How to get here
We’re in the South Lismore industrial estate, just off the Bruxner Highway. Put 39 Habib Drive, South Lismore into your GPS. The times below are rough and depend on traffic and where you start.
- From Byron Bay: head inland through Bangalow to Lismore. Allow roughly 45 minutes to an hour.
- From Ballina: head west along the Bruxner Highway straight into Lismore. Allow roughly 30 to 40 minutes.
- From the Gold Coast: take the Pacific Motorway (M1) south, then head inland to Lismore through Bangalow or from Ballina. Allow roughly 1.5 to 2 hours.
- From Brisbane: take the M1 south past the Gold Coast, then head inland to Lismore the same way. Allow roughly 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Flying in: the airport at Ballina is the closest major airport, around 35 minutes’ drive from the factory.
Why a factory build matters
Building in a factory isn’t just about speed. It changes how the whole job goes.
- The weather doesn’t stop work. Cutting, welding, insulating and fit-out happen under a roof, so rain doesn’t hold up your build or soak your materials.
- Quality you can check. Engineer and certifier inspections happen in the factory, and every module’s checked before it’s loaded on the truck.
- Less time on site. Modules arrive finished and get craned into place. On the Lindendale the containers were installed within five hours, and the Cronulla went from containers arriving to finished, landscaping included, in six weeks.
- Fewer trades on your block. Less mess, less noise for the neighbours, and fewer days of site costs.
- Made in Australia. We design and build here in Lismore. We don’t import finished buildings.
A finished module going in by crane. Most of the work’s already done before it reaches site.
Already building with us? Where it’s part of your contract, we can arrange a factory review of your build before the final payment, either in person or with photos if you can’t make the trip.
Can’t get to Lismore?
If Lismore’s a long way from you, you can stay in one of our homes instead. Boulder Ridge in Tenterfield is a 3 bed, 2 bath home built from eight 20ft high cube containers, set on 20 private acres, and you can book it on Airbnb. If you stay and then go ahead with a build with us, we’ll refund your stay in full, up to 7 nights.

Do I need an appointment to visit?
Yes. The showroom and factory are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm, and an appointment is necessary. Call 1300 965 359 or email sales@containerbuildgroup.com.au to book.

Are you open on weekends?
No. Visits are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm, by appointment.
Will there be a finished home to walk through?
It depends on what’s in production that week. Tell us which model you’re interested in when you book and we’ll let you know what’s on the floor. If you want to stay in a finished home, Boulder Ridge in Tenterfield is on Airbnb.
Can I bring my plans and talk about my block?
Yes, please do. Bring your site address, photos of the block, any plans or sketches and a rough budget, and we’ll talk through which model or custom design suits.
Can I see my own build while it’s in the factory?
Where it’s part of your contract, we can arrange a factory review before the final payment, either in person or with photos.
