I am Jamie from Container Build Group. When a council or caravan park asks for a proper camp kitchen container — not a lean-to with a couple of hotplates — this is the job I point them to first.
Our Camp Kitchen – x2 40 ft was installed at Tumbarumba Caravan Park through Snowy Valleys Council. It is a dual high-cube cooking facility with 14 cooking stations, built in our South Lismore factory and placed on site in a known programme. This post is a named project case study. For the full kitchen range — Mansfield, compact 20 ft modules and hospitality work — start with our commercial kitchen containers hub.

What we built at Tumbarumba Caravan Park
The published brief on our product page is straightforward, and that is how councils like to read it:
- 2 × 40 ft new high-cube containers
- Fully lined and insulated internally
- 14 cooking stations, each with a sink, hot plate and range hood
- Factory programme: about 12 days
- Site works and installation: about 10 days
That is a high-volume communal cook line for park guests — not a single café servery. Guests get space to prep meals together; the park gets a finished cooking envelope that arrived as modules instead of being invented in the weather on a concrete pad.

Why councils and caravan parks look at a container camp kitchen
Across Australia, councils and park operators keep asking the same practical questions: How many stations can we give guests? How long is the site disrupted? Can the cooking space be lined and insulated properly for year-round use?
A container camp kitchen Australia format answers those with factory certainty. We manufacture at 39 Habib Drive, South Lismore NSW 2480 — Australian-made, Australian-compliant — then deliver and install to the pad. You still need site connections, approvals and your certifier’s pathway. What you do not need is a long wet-weather programme inventing the kitchen shell on site.
The Tumbarumba job sits in that council and caravan-park lane. It is the format we recommend when the brief is high-volume meal prep for campers, not a walk-up coffee hatch or a club rebuild with cool rooms.
Programme: about 12 days in the factory, about 10 on site
Published timing for this project:
- About 12 days of factory build in South Lismore
- About 10 days of site works and installation
Those figures are specific to the Tumbarumba Camp Kitchen as published on our Camp Kitchen – x2 40 ft page and repeated on the commercial kitchens hub. Other kitchen formats have different programmes — a compact 20 ft module is typically faster to place once access and connections are ready; a full club rebuild is a different conversation entirely.
For parks and councils planning a season, that factory-plus-site split is the useful number: fabrication happens off-site while you prepare the pad, then our install team finishes the site window.
Related format: The Mansfield (Port Macquarie) — not Tumbarumba
Not every kitchen brief needs fourteen guest cooking stations. When the operator needs a double-width commercial kitchen for a hospitality or camp cook line — prep, equipment and a proper commercial workflow — we point to The Mansfield: 2 × 20 ft high cubes, about 30 m², built for a site in Port Macquarie.

Use Mansfield when you need a commercial kitchen suite. Use the Tumbarumba dual 40 ft camp kitchen when you need many guest cooking stations in a park or council setting. Both live under the same commercial kitchen containers hub so you can match scale to the brief.
Pairing a camp kitchen with amenities
Councils and caravan parks rarely need a kitchen in isolation. If your master plan also calls for toilets, showers or change rooms, look at our ablution blocks range and the multi-use amenities block built for councils and sporting clubs. Same factory discipline, different interiors — kitchen stations in one module family, amenities in another.
Bring the headcount, pad photos and whether you need kitchen only or kitchen-plus-amenities when you enquire. We will recommend the dual 40 ft camp kitchen, Mansfield, a compact 20 ft kitchen, or a coordinated package.
How to enquire about a camp kitchen container
If you are a council, caravan park or camp operator scoping a camp kitchen container or dual 40 ft cook line, start with the Tumbarumba facts and gallery, then tell us your site constraints.
Useful detail to send:
- Location and pad photos
- Rough guest or covers figure (how many stations you need)
- Whether amenities or ablutions sit in the same programme
- Any certifier or food-premises notes your environmental health team already has
