What a CBG mining cabin actually is

Our standard shipping-container mining cabin is a 40ft high cube built for mining and remote work. The standard layout:

Four separate-access bedrooms — private entry for each room
Each room roughly 2.2m × 2.9m, with space for a single bed, work desk and wardrobe
Overall about 12.2m long × 2.4m wide (~30 square metres)
Fully insulated, with a large aluminium-frame sliding window per bedroom and the door on the opposite side

That’s the same bones as our remote campsite cabin — high-cube 40FT, four private rooms, privacy first. The campsite cabin can also take bunk beds and a sitting bench as options in that layout, and the choice to run one or two bedrooms with the rest as bathroom, kitchen or lounge when you need a different mix.

We custom-make each cabin in our Lismore workshop, so the usual mining finish stays basic and easy to clean — and we can add storage, change finishes or enlarge rooms when the brief asks for it.

Why container strength matters on a mining pad

On our Mining & Government Infrastructure page we put it plainly: when a remote site needs accommodation, offices or ablutions, you don’t want a building that arrives damaged, in pieces, or non-compliant.

Our containers are engineered to the same standards that survive ocean voyages and stacking. That strength carries to site. Units get there in one piece, undamaged and ready to work — no flat-pack assembly, no cracked panels, no warped frames.

Every unit we build is Australian-made and built to Australian standards, with wiring and fittings done right the first time and a complete service from design through to installation. That matters when the alternative is an imported flat-pack that has to pass inspection after it’s already on the pad.

Camp kit around the sleeping wing

Sleeping cabins are only one slice. From the same Australian workshop we custom-build, in shipping containers and deliver to site:

Need more beds as headcount climbs? The mining cabin is built for that. More sleeping cabins can be delivered when required, staged with the roster instead of overbuilding on day one.

Two kitchens we’ve already built show the range. Our Camp Kitchen at Tumbarumba Caravan Park, installed through Snowy Valleys Council, is two new 40ft high cubes, fully lined and insulated, with 14 cooking stations (each with a sink, hot plate and range hood). It was built in 12 days in the factory and installed in 10 days on site. The Mansfield is our double-width commercial kitchen, built for a site in Port Macquarie: two 20ft high cubes giving about 30 square metres of floor for cooking stations, prep areas and equipment.

Ablutions and site offices come out of the same Lismore factory. Our ablution blocks are fully fitted 20ft and 40ft units, built for easy setup and ready 30 working days from order. Delivery is extra and quoted to your site.

For the site office, our Off Grid Office is a new 20ft high cube, 6m × 2.4m (14.4 m²), with a kitchenette, bathroom and electrical fit-out. It carries its own off-grid kit outside: a high-flow pressure pump, a custom 160L water tank, a 160L sewage holding tank and a macerator pump, with off-grid solar packages available.

Security and power off the grid

Remote pads get vandalism and theft. Beyond standard locks we can fit hinged steel safety screens on windows — open when the room’s in use, locked shut when the crew’s away. Security systems are available if the site brief needs them.

Services are thin out bush. These cabins are designed to run off a small generator, or we can add a built-in plug-and-go RPC off-grid solar unit.

Built in Lismore, trucked or railed to you

Cabins are fabricated in our factory, then moved on train or semi-truck and unloaded with a crane or suitable forklift. A mining cabin can be fitted onsite in a day, and a campsite cabin often takes only a couple of hours.

Different briefs, same idea: Australian factory build, delivered complete, standing up to the conditions it was designed for. Insulation is chosen for the site, because Australia runs from snow to extreme heat, and cyclone ratings are set on the engineer’s drawings for your location.
