Prefab Homes Australia — Factory-Finished or Build-to-Stage

Granny Cabin 40ft prefab container home exterior with skillion roof and deck

Granny Cabin 40ft — our base model self-contained prefab, fabricated in about 10 days.

Most people searching prefab homes want three things: a known price before work starts, a short build, and less mess on their block. That’s how we work. We prefabricate shipping container homes from steel containers in our own factory in South Lismore, NSW, then deliver them Australia-wide.

The big choice with us is how finished you want your home when it arrives. You can have it factory-finished and ready to live in, or have us build to a stage and finish it yourself.

Factory-finished vs kit: pick your stage

Factory-finished (most customers). We do the lot in Lismore: cut-outs, insulation, electrical, kitchen, bathroom, flooring and trims. Once it’s installed, there’s no painting or plastering to do. Site work is mostly footings, crane, services and connection.

Build to any stage (kit-style). Our floor plans page explains that we can build to any stage of your project, including supplying all the container steelwork prefabricated so you can finish it off yourself. That suits owner-builders and people with trade skills who want to save on fit-out.

Either way you get:

  • Plans, engineering, soil testing and energy assessment available across the whole range
  • Any cyclone rating up to C4, engineered to suit your site and your certifier’s requirements
  • Recycled A-grade or brand new containers — your choice
  • Design and build in Lismore with components from Australian suppliers

Not sure which way to go? Our article Container Homes vs Tiny Homes vs Kit Homes walks through the trade-offs, and Prefab homes in Australia: built here vs imported covers why we build everything locally.

Prefab at full family-home scale

Prefab doesn’t have to mean small. The Cronulla in Sydney is two storeys built from eight 20ft and three 40ft containers. They were fully completed in our factory and installed on site, and it took six weeks from the containers arriving to completion, landscaping included.
