Photos of render-perfect homes are easy to find online. What’s harder to find is a builder who can point to real jobs that people live in, trade from and work out of. Here are ours.
Every project below went through our own factory in South Lismore before it was trucked out to site. Most we took right through to handover; a few we built to a stage for the owners or their builder to finish. Some are family homes. Some are busy cafes and bars. Some sit in alpine country or a Bowen Basin mining town. Click through on any card to see the full gallery and details.

Homes
From one-bedroom weekenders to a 450 m² family home, these are container homes we’ve built for clients around Australia. All our homes are custom built, so treat each one as a starting point, not a fixed catalogue item.

- Location: Cronulla, Sydney NSW
- Containers: 8 × 20ft and 3 × 40ft
- A two-storey family home with 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and an office off the garage that could become a fourth bedroom. The containers were finished in our factory, and it took six weeks from the containers landing on site to completion, landscaping included.

- Containers: 3 × 40ft and 1 × 20ft, with a conventional build in the middle
- Three bedrooms, clerestory windows and 4 m ceilings. The 20ft sits under the top storey as storage and part of the footing, which lifts the home to catch the views. Container units were built in our factory in three weeks, and the family of five moved in six weeks after install.

Boulder Ridge Tenterfield

- Location: Tenterfield NSW, on 20 private acres

Bundeena

- Location: Bundeena NSW
- Scope: Two-storey home built to our BASE stage
- The owners wanted to finish their own home, so we did the hard part: architectural and engineering plans, energy assessment, window and door cut-outs, reinforcing and all the container joins, checked before transport. They took it from there with glass, lining, electrical and plumbing.

The Bindera

- Location: Private client build
- Scope: Custom design and build
- The brief was high end and one of a kind, with the container exteriors on show. It’s got 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and full off-grid capability.

The Ranch

- Location: Tabulam NSW, on private waterfront
- Scope: Our old sales office, converted into a 1-bedroom weekender

- Location: Proserpine QLD
- Containers: 3 × 40ft
- A 2 bed, 2 bathroom home with a nice layout and a high-end finish throughout.

Remote and mining
Remote jobs are where factory building really pays off. Less time on site, fewer trades flying in and out, and a building that arrives ready to work.
Snowy Hydro 32-man Alpine Lodge

What these projects have in common
- Built under one roof. The cutting, welding and reinforcing happen in our factory, and on full builds so do the insulation and fit-out, so nothing gets pieced together in the rain.
- Built in Australia. We don’t import finished buildings.
- Built for the site. Alpine cold, coastal salt, Queensland heat, or a sloping block with a view, we work it into the design and engineering from day one.
- Delivered complete. Modules leave the factory ready to set down, so time on site is days or weeks, not months.

Frequently asked questions
Can you build one of these homes for me?
Yes. All our homes are custom built, so you can start from one of these projects and we’ll adjust the layout, finishes and engineering to suit your site and budget.
Can I see a CBG home in person?
Yes, two ways. Book a visit to our showroom and factory at 39 Habib Drive, South Lismore (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm, by appointment). Or stay at Boulder Ridge in Tenterfield on Airbnb. If you go ahead with a build after staying, we’ll refund your stay in full, up to 7 days.
Do you build outside NSW?
Yes. We’ve built in Queensland at the Port of Brisbane, Howard Smith Wharves, Noosaville, Proserpine and Middlemount, as well as right along the NSW coast and up in the Snowy Mountains. We deliver Australia-wide from Lismore.
How long does a container build take?
It depends on the size and the fit-out. As a guide, the container units for the Wolverine and Crystal’s Palace were built in our factory within three weeks, the Lindendale took under 10 weeks start to finish, and Middlemount Golf Club was done in 60 days. Planning and council approval take extra time, so talk to us early.
Do you do commercial, council and government jobs?
Yes. Our commercial work includes the Snowy Hydro alpine lodge, the Port of Brisbane expansion, the Tumbarumba camp kitchen for Snowy Valleys Council, Middlemount Golf Club and cafes and bars from Coffs Harbour to Brisbane.
Can I finish part of the build myself?
Yes. Our BASE stage option (like the Bundeena home) covers plans, engineering, energy assessment, cut-outs, reinforcing and container joins, and you take it from there. Give us a call to see if it suits your project.
Talk to us about your project
Tell us what you want to build, where it’s going and roughly what you want to spend. We’ll point you to the closest project we’ve done and work up a design from there.
